One of the many reasons I love having a dog.

Loulou is in heat and at the moment a very popular dog. It makes no difference if the dogs are castrated or if the dog is a bitch, they do not stop sniffing her. And she doesn’t mind. It was a beautiful Indian summer the other day, warm, sunny and a clear blue sky. I saw a woman with her dogs that I have seen (for years) during walks and we always greet each other, as most dog owners do, however we do not know each other. Today her dogs would not budge and waited for me and Loulou to be close enough to sniff her. She apologised and I told her that Loulou is in heat. She assured me that nothing could happen.

We started to walk and talk with each other and her dogs were no longer interested in Lou and vice versa. It turned out that we had so much in common. Acquaintances, the school our kids attended, pool, love for dogs and a lot more.

Loulou had a wonderful walk (she’s 15 years old) and kept up with Simone’s dogs. We too had a really nice time. We plan to stay in touch and go for walks together.

Our encounter inspired me to start this blog that I have been meaning to do for ages. Thank you LouLou, I have made so many friends because of you and thank you Simone for inspiring me.
